Same Bar Release – Geinger

Geinger

 

Technique: Execute the downswing as if doing a backward giant. As the body swings into the 4th quarter of the circle the toes rise, the gymnast performs a layout (or pike) flyaway with 1/2 twist to re-catch the bar

2 techniques, layout with ½ twist or Arabian flip

Notes: tell gymnast toes back over the bar for the release point & Spot feet up at ceiling

Pit Bar – All performed from tap swings w/beanie babies

 

  • Hollow tuck & layout flyaway with good tap and height (arms overhead)
  • Hollow tuck & layout to back onto mat (arms overhead)
  • Hollow tuck & layout to back, bounce ½ to belly (rarely use this)
  • Hollow tuck & layout to feet, jump ½ with arm action
  • Hollow tuck & layout flyways to feet, jump ½ to belly
  • Tap swing to hit thighs on the bar (must keep the shoulders open and head in) NO breaking the shoulder line (do not use this a lot)

 

Pit Bar – From cast handstand

 

  • Perform layout to back on above ground resi pit (arms overhead)
  • Layout with ½ twist onto above ground resi pit to land on stomach (arms come to thighs then up overhead)
  • Drill to get the tip back at the bar – Cast to hit thighs on the bar (must keep the shoulders open and head in) NO breaking the shoulder line (do not use this a lot)
  • Bring closer and closer to bar until Geinger is caught (get on platform and hand spot)

 

Channel Bar

 

    • cast HS to candlestick (coach spot and hold athlete)
    • cast HS to layout flyaway to land up on platform
    • cast HS to layout ¼ land on platform, ¼ to grab bar
    • can also perform Geinger with coach spot

 

    • Comp bar (high bar)
    • All the same drills as pit bar tuck tap swings and when cast HS only layout position
    • Bring closer and closer to bar until Geinger is performed (catch the athlete to slow the fall when getting close to grabbing the bar)

 

 

Comp bar (low bar w/ small resi pit) (Arabian technique)

 

 

  • Tuck tap swing to tuck bail HS
  • Tuck tap swing to tuck bail HS to back
  • Tuck tap swing to tuck bail flip to feet (reach out and catch bar)

 

 

Arabian technique Geinger to comp high bar

 

 

  • Tap swing to Arabian flyaway
  • Tap swing to Arabian flyaway to stomach
  • Tap swing to Arabian dbl front in pit

 

 

Trampoline Drills

 

 

  • Back drop pullover to feet (hollow position)
  • Back drop pullover to back (hollow to slight pike position)
  • Back drop pullover to feet, jump ½ to belly drop arms overhead
  • Back 1 ¼ layout to back
  • Cruise
  • Back layout ¼ to feet with jump ¼ to stomach drop
  • Back 1-¼ layouts with ¼ twist to stomach (layout cruise)
